Elam is a diverse and supportive contemporary art environment where all creatives can learn and experiment. Students examine the critical concepts behind their making, with dedicated technical facilities to support their creative explorations. Elam artists have made a significant contribution to arts and culture in New Zealand. Staff and alumni are involved in the public, civic or education sectors as artists, makers, creative entrepreneurs and educators.

Elam is not just for those who excelled at art at school. The collaborative nature of our studio environment and focus on interdisciplinary practices is suitable for anyone interested in expanding their creativity.

Discover more about what’s possible at Elam, at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels.
